I am German by birth and passport but for the past two decades have been using English much more than German. In my twenties, I have been a reporter and editor for German newspapers, magazines, and a TV station, but then moved to Asia where I have been living ever since. I started out in Asia as a foreign correspondent but career concerns played no role in my decision to settle in Asia. Standard reporting for the mainstream media is boring, even from foreign countries.
I settled in Asia because living here is better for the one thing I'm really concerned about: sexual relationships.
Normally, I am not a fiction writer. I am interested in facts, and the truth. To write fiction is to make up things that have not happened (but could have happened well, maybe).
I have written thousands of articles and essays, and even a number of short stories that where published in literature magazines, but ever only finished one novel, published under the title Manila and set in the Philippines. I wrote Manila in German. Most books I wrote where travel guides, and in English.
Manila is long out of print, and as the publisher has gone out of business, there is no chance that it would be printed again.
